The Reader’s Verdict

A new standard in beta reading.

The privacy covenant

Privacy

What you see leave the room is everything that leaves the room.

Your manuscript

Your manuscript reaches our own system for one reason: to run your read there. It is used for that alone.

We do not use your work to train anything. We never share it, never republish it, never show it to another writer, and never carry it out of one person's session into anyone else's.

That is structural rather than merely promised: no room stores one writer's work anywhere another writer could meet it.

What happens on our system

The read runs on our account, not one you had to open. What happens to your manuscript there is ours to answer for: it is processed to produce your read — our server sends your pages to the reading service that reads them, and nowhere else — and the deletion policy below — not a provider's terms we would otherwise point you to — is what governs how long anything of yours remains.

What we do not collect

  • No analytics on your prose.
  • No profiles.
  • No quiet copies kept behind your back.
  • No analytics and no third-party trackers on this website.

If you claim a free seat, the door sends your name and email to our own server, only to issue your seat and keep to one free seat per writer. Our seat records keep a one-way fingerprint of your email, not the address, and we count claims per connection. Your seat code is shown on your screen, once — that is the copy to keep. A copy of it for you, and a note telling us of your claim (with your name and email), wait on our server until our mail is switched on; it is not switched on yet.

Deletion, whenever you ask

You may ask us to delete your work and your records at any time, and the answer is yes. Your manuscript is held only for as long as it takes to run your read and produce your deliverables — after that, it is deleted from our systems and not kept. One honest boundary, stated here rather than discovered later. Content and support material you have asked us to hold is deleted on request, per the policy stated here. Order and transaction records — that a purchase happened, its reference, its date and its amount — are retained only as long as accounting, tax, fraud-prevention and legal obligations require, and as ordinary business records. We will not promise to erase what the law requires us to keep.

This right survives every state of your license, including a completed or closed engagement.

Asking us anything

Questions, rights requests and concerns go to support@lovingmywords.com. Where any wording differs between this page and the covenant the room itself carries, the stricter protection of the writer governs.

Writing in another language? It’s coming.

Today The Reader’s Verdict reads manuscripts written in English. Native-language reads are coming soon, and each language opens only once it has been proven on real full-length novels written in it. If you would like to hear the moment yours opens, write to us: support@lovingmywords.com.
