The Reader’s Verdict

A new standard in beta reading.

REAL READERS, IN THEIR OWN WORDS

Proven Reads

What the people who actually used it said — quoted exactly, and only where they said yes.

Everything on this page was written by somebody else. Each entry is a real person’s own sentence, copied without a word changed, and it appears here only after that person gave permission for it to be published.

Nothing here is written by us, smoothed by us, or assembled out of things people are supposed to have said. We would rather show you an empty page than a sentence nobody wrote.

In their own words

These words stay in the language the person wrote them in. We do not translate somebody else’s sentence and then present the translation as their sentence.

No permitted words are published yet. The first entries appear here the moment the people who wrote them say yes — and not one moment sooner.

Read this in your language

The words above are the reader’s own. This lane only helps you read them.

How a sentence gets onto this page

Someone runs a read, receives their deliverables, and writes back. If what they wrote is something we would like to show you, we ask them plainly whether we may publish it, and how they would like to be named.

If they say yes, their sentence is published exactly as they wrote it. If they say no, or have not answered, nothing of theirs appears here at all. We do not paraphrase, we do not tidy, and we do not invent. A page of praise nobody said would tell you nothing about the read.

The read itself is the better proof

Other people’s words are worth something. Watching the room work on a real manuscript is worth more.

Writing in another language? It’s coming.

Today The Reader’s Verdict reads manuscripts written in English. Native-language reads are coming soon, and each language opens only once it has been proven on real full-length novels written in it. If you would like to hear the moment yours opens, write to us: support@lovingmywords.com.
