Terms
A promise you cannot read is not a promise. So here it is, short.
What a purchase grants
One license serves one work — one manuscript. It covers the complete read and evaluation, the two delivered briefs, and the Elevation Walkthrough of those findings.
A new work is a new license.
- One manuscript per read.
- Every read covers the complete manuscript — never a sample chapter.
- There is no revision round. A revised manuscript later is a new beta read, at the full price — the same as it would be with any reader — never a resumed one.
Who you are buying from, and how payment works
The Reader's Verdict is sold by Loving My Words. That is the seller of record: the name on your receipt and on your card statement.
A read is a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, no recurring charge and no renewal, and nothing is billed to you again unless you buy another read.
Payment is taken by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card details go to Stripe and never to this website: we do not see them and we do not hold them. Stripe issues your receipt, and that receipt is the record of what you agreed to and when.
The read begins at your first pages. If the system finds there that it cannot honestly read your manuscript at the level a final beta read demands — including a manuscript that is not written in English, which today it does not read, we stop. There is no delivery. You are told plainly, and your payment is refunded in full. The refund promise is set out in full on our Refunds page, and that page governs.
Free seats
A seat is not transferable, and sharing the package ends it.
Who owns what
You own your work, completely. The manuscript you bring, every page you leave with, every revision you make — yours, before, during and after. Nothing about this process creates any claim on your story.
Your deliverables are yours to keep and to use for your own work.
We own our own instruments. The room, its knowledge, its methods and its checklists are the proprietary property of Loving My Words. Copying, extracting or redistributing any part of a package is not permitted, and it ends the license.
What you need, and who this is for
You sign in with your seat code, and the read runs on our own account. There is no API, no API key, and no separate account of your own to open.
This service is for adults. You must be 18 or older, or working with the knowledge and consent of a parent or guardian who holds the seat.
Where the law of this agreement lives
This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. That is the state where SNJ Consulting LLC is organized, and it means one readable set of rules for both of us.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first — a person reads the mail, and a person answers it. That is genuinely how we expect nearly everything to be settled. Whoever is raising a dispute must send the other written notice of the issue and a fair opportunity — at least 30 days — to resolve it informally.
No lawsuit comes before that step. If a dispute cannot be settled informally, any lawsuit belongs in the state courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah — or, where federal jurisdiction exists, in the United States District Court for the District of Utah — and both of us consent to the jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
One thing this section never does: take away a protection your own country's or state's consumer law gives you that cannot be waived by agreement. Where such a law applies to you, it governs.
Where to send a notice
A formal legal notice to the house goes in writing to: Loving My Words, 1501 India Street, PMB 103-11, San Diego, CA 92101 — or by email to support@lovingmywords.com with the subject line “LEGAL NOTICE.”
A notice to you goes to the email address on your order. Keep it current — it is the only address we have.
The limit of what we owe
If something in your package is wrong, tell us and we will make it right where we can — that promise comes first, and the Refunds page carries its strongest form.
Beyond it, here is the legal boundary, stated plainly. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or connected to a read — however the claim is framed — is limited to the amount you paid us for that read. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, lost goodwill, or lost data, even if we were told they were possible. On a free seat, nothing was paid, and that is the limit.
We promise the read described on these pages, performed with care. We do not warrant anything beyond it.
Some places do not allow some of these limits. Where a law gives you a protection that cannot be waived by agreement, that law governs, and these limits apply to the fullest extent the law allows.
What a verdict is — and what it is not
A Reader's Verdict is an evaluation of your manuscript: findings anchored to your own pages, an honest Current Read, and a conditional Estimated Potential tied to the named priority revisions.
It is not a prediction about the market, and it is not a promise of outcomes. It does not promise — and nothing in it should be read as promising — representation, acquisition, publication, sales, reviews, awards, or any commercial result. No reader, human or AI, can promise those.
The decisions you make from your briefs are yours. What the world does with your book is not within our control, and it is not within our warranty.
Anything not written here
Anything this page does not set out is as stated at purchase. Where any wording differs, the stricter protection of the writer governs.
Questions go to support@lovingmywords.com, and we answer them.
When a refund is given, and when it is not
In brief: a refund in full is given only when the read did not happen — stopped at your first pages, or interrupted on our side before it could be completed. It is not given for a change of mind, for a manuscript changed after it was submitted, or for disagreement with a finding, which is ruled APPLY, MODIFY or DECLINE and never refunded. An incomplete brief page is corrected and sent again at no charge. The Refunds page sets this out in full, and that page governs.
Writing in another language? It’s coming.
Today The Reader’s Verdict reads manuscripts written in English. Native-language reads are coming soon, and each language opens only once it has been proven on real full-length novels written in it. If you would like to hear the moment yours opens, write to us: support@lovingmywords.com.
